Benefit For Annette Lindsey

5/01/08 Quick update: The Benefit was a HUGE success, raised
a lot of much needed assistance for Annette, and it was a blast. Special thanks to Pat and LCB for the entertainment, and Mr. J.
for his auctioneering expertise. Thanks to all who attended,
donated, or just stopped by to wish her well.
WE LOVE YA NUT!
If you're just hearing about this and would like to make a much needed contribution, just stop by the bar a speak with the servers, and they'll help you out.

On April 19, 2008, Cactus Jack's Saloon is sponsoring
a benefit on behalf of Annette Lindsey. The benefit is
called "A Better Nut". Cactus Jack's has donated a
Grand Prize to be raffled off the day of the fundraiser.
The Grand Prize will be a trip for two to Napa Valley, hotel and air fare (not to exceed $1000). Southern Wine &
Spirits has donated a few VIP tours for two to some of the best wineries in Napa. Also includes a free round (18 holes) of golf for two at a local course. Our Grand Prize will be raffled off at the end of the day. Tickets are $20 and can
be purchased starting April 1st up until an hour before
the Raffle begins. You can purchase the raffle tickets at Cactus Jack's. I am hoping to add other locations to buy tickets.

Live Entertainment will include Kicked to the Curb featuring Pat
Travis and Roger Falter starting at 1 pm till 3 pm. There will be a live
auction by Jim Jackson between 3 and 4. Various items are 5 night stay for
man's best friend at Mountain Parks Vet , a cord of wood donated by Dan
Williams, Gift Certificate to Brook Forest Inn (1 night stay and spa
treatment) and so on. So bring your check books. Following the Live
Auction, Lost Canyon Band will play from 4 -7 pm. Both bands have donated
their time for this event so feel free to tip them. The fundraiser will go
from noon to 8 pm and we will be raffling items all day long. These items
include gift certificates from Rib Crib, Bergen Park Paint, Local grocery
and liquor stores just to name a few. All day long we will be selling
T-shirts to raise more money for Annette. These T-shirts will be a limited
item so get them before they are gone. We will also be serving drinks at a
back bar from liquor that has been donated at a discounted price and 100% of
the profit goes to the fundraiser. We plan on doing a 50/50 raffle as
well. Lastly, we will just take hard earned cash.
Thanks, Megan

Just some info about Annette's health in case you didn't know. She had a
cold that turned into pneumonia which gave her an infection. She heard a
popping sound that ended up being her lung collapsing. Over the course of
one night she proceeded to have trouble breathing. The next morning she
called the doctor's office which couldn't get her in until the next day.
Finally during her appointment she was told that her lung had collapsed.
She couldn't afford to take an ambulance, so Mindy drove her down to the
hospital. She was immediately seen and admitted to Lutheran
Hospital. After several weeks of trying to decide the right course of
action the doctor's decided that she needed surgery on her lung because
there was a hole in it. While in surgery they removed a small piece of her
lung that had died and scrapped off the mucus/infection that began this
whole thing. Of course, she has no insurance. So not to mention the tremendous
hospital bills she will have, but must endure a year of rehabilitation once she
is released from the hospital.
This is a serious situation and "Nut" has handled it like a champ. She would be
the type of person running a fundraiser for any of her many, many friends.
So for all of us who are volunteering our time and money we would love to
raise as much money as possible to help her transition back into our
community.

Thanks in advance for your support!
